Avid Hotel Cedar Rapids South - Arpt Area, an IHG Hotel

If you have the unfortunate task of using the Cedar Rapids airport at Christmas time–unfortunate in the sense that whether you will actually depart due to Iowa weather is never certain and the duplicity of the airline industry itself–I recommend that you book a quality night at the Avid hotel. The facility is clean, the beds are comfortable, and the staff is super friendly and willing to go the extra distance to make your stay enjoyable. Plus, my wife loved the breakfast, probably more than one should for your basic continental breakfast, but love is a funny thing.

I needed a place to stay for 2 different nights for my flight at Cedar Rapids Airport. The room was clean and quiet, with a fancy shower. I was impressed with the window blind that shut out all light from outside. They had a decent selection for breakfast items.

This was one of the best hotel stays I’ve ever had. After a 16 hour drive, all I wanted was a hot shower and a comfortable bed. Avid did not disappoint! The hotel and my room were perfectly immaculate and the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. I very much appreciated the black out curtain, the lighted bathroom mirror, and the super efficient check-in. The room was not large, but it was spotless and had everything I needed for my brief stay. Loved it!

This hotel was a really nice surprise. We were in town for a baseball tournament so it was a little further out than we would have preferred but it was very easy to get to/from where we needed to be. The breakfast was fantastic - everything was single serve but good variety of breakfast sandwiches, fruit and other items. The room and all common areas were spotlessly clean and the decor was modern and fresh. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

Hotel is very bright, nicely decorated, eco-conscious, clean, quiet, and with easy access to the highway and airport. A couple gas stations and fast food locations nearby. The staff we encountered were very welcoming and friendly. Bed was very comfortable, and temperature was controlled by us in our room.. We were there on a very hot and humid weekend and the hotel, common spaces and our room were all very cool and comfortable. The room doesn't have carpeting, but I liked that as the floors were very clean. Shower was hot with adequate water pressure. Our King sized room had a mini-fridge perfect for leftovers and some beverages. In the lobby there is a microwave to use, along with access to coffee, tea, hot cocoa, still and sparkle water and an ice machine. Breakfast was a mix of grab and go items, cereal, toast, bagels, fruit, hot breakfast sandwiches, and egg white omelets (my favorite). We would stay here again if in the area.
